By air
Burgas Airport (BOJ) is about 10 km north of the centre and busiest between May and September, with seasonal flights from across Europe. City bus line 15 connects it with the centre and the resorts.
Logistics
Getting to Burgas and around
Burgas has an airport, a seafront train station and the main bus hub of the southern coast, all within a few minutes of the centre. You rarely need a car unless you head into Strandzha.
By train
The historic station sits at the end of Bogoridi Street, right by the port — one of the most convenient arrivals in Bulgaria. Direct trains run to Sofia (roughly 6-8 hours) and Plovdiv.
By bus
Yug bus station, next to the train station, handles coaches to Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna, plus the frequent coastal minibuses to Nessebar, Sozopol, Pomorie and Sunny Beach.
By car
The Trakia motorway (A1) links Burgas with Plovdiv and Sofia. A car is only worth it for Strandzha and the far south; parking in the centre is paid blue-zone.
City buses
Buses and the BurgasBus lines cover the beach, airport, Meden Rudnik and the outer districts. Buy tickets from the driver or a kiosk and validate on board.
Walking and cycling
The centre is flat and compact — station to the far end of the Sea Garden takes under half an hour on foot, and there are cycle lanes along the coast.
